The Heralds of Valdemar Trilogy

Synopsis:
The Heralds of Valdemar trilogy follows the adventures of a young girl, Talia, who is chosen to become a Herald. She faces numerous challenges along the way: her struggle to overcome her own fears, gain control of her newfound mental ability and adapt to her new position as advisor to the queen. There she uncovers a plot to corrupt Elspeth, the young heir to the throne, which threatens to force the country into war. As one of the first set of books in the Valdemar series, this trilogy is an ideal place to start. It introduces the world gradually and clearly, through Talia's eyes. It is an entertaining read, though at times the language can be a little flowery and the more mature readers may find it hard to empathise with the main character. Nontheless, the relationships between the characters are well written, adding a very real sense of depth to the story.
